The Chanukah Menorah
The menorah should be lit on the outside of the doorway, on the left side when entering the home. If that is not practical, then the menorah should be lit in a window facing the public thoroughfare. If someone lives on an upper floor, the menorah should be lit in a window. If for some reason the menorah cannot be lit by a window, it may be lit inside the house on a table. Lighting the menorah in a place where it can be seen by the public fulfills the mitzvah of "publicizing the miracle."
