Today's Summer Daily Fun
Underwater Telescope
See what's under water: Poke your telescope in the water and look through it
for a clear, enlarged view of life beneath the surface. In a creek you might
see creepy bugs and insects. In a swimming pool or bathtub, you might see
who knows what!
You will need:
- A food storage tub with a snap-on lid (an empty yogurt container works great)
- Clear plastic wrap
How to do it:
Kids: Get some help with this one. First, cut off the
bottom of the tub. Then cut out the center of the tub's lid
so that only the rim remains. Stretch the plastic wrap over
the tub's top and snap the rim over it to secure it in place.
Insert the plastic wrapped end into the water and look through the top.
When you stick your scope into the water, the water pressure pushes the plastic
wrap into a concave magnifying lens. Hint: If you don't have
a plastic tub or can't find someone to help you cut out the bottom and the
lid, any tube with two open ends will work. Just fasten your plastic
wrap on the end with rubber bands or masking tape. Enjoy!
