Box Town

Create a town from boxes:  Make a toy town using different shapes and sizes of old boxes and cartons, colored paper, scissors, tape, paper tubes, paint, markers and crayons.

How to do it:
  • Wrap up boxes and other empty containers with colored paper.
  • Cut out doors if you want your buildings to have door.  Kids - get help cutting things out!
  • Use toilet tissue tubes for chimneys.
  • Have fun decorating your buildings with windows, flower boxes, etc.
  • To make trees use a tissue paper tube for the trunk.  Cut out a circle in the shape of tree tops and leaves and tape or glue to the tube.  (Try drawing in some apples.)
  • To make a street, on a large piece of cardboard, color in grass, the roadway, lines on the roadway.  Then place your buildings, trees and flowers on your street.
  • Add things like mailboxes, fire hydrants, a telephone booth, and anything else you can think of to make it look like a little town.
  • Have fun!
