Visit your local Humane Society or animal shelter: Talk to the people
there and ask what it takes to care for the animals. You might be
tempted to take an animal home with you, but before you do, think very
long and very hard about the commitment you need to make to take care of a
pet on a daily basis. Remember that pets are living, breathing creatures
who eat, drink and (yes) poop. They also get sick and need to go to the
doctor, just like people. So, instead of taking a pet home, use the
opportunity to learn about the animals and think about how important it is
to be able to care for a pet.
